Haha! What was his reaction? I don't remember.stupidmop wrote:I love, LOVE the fact that seemingly the entire band thought the fixer was about ed fixing other peoples songs, and ed finding out via interviewer. Fucking hilarious. Gives you an idea about both how they feel about it, and about eds character, that they think he'd be so forward as to actually write a song about 'fixing' everyone else's songs.

Honestly I can't remember, I think he just says 'really? Maybe a little but I actually was thinking about blah blah blah' or something along those lines.

Gonna see my friend is such a strong opener...even if i dont love Ed`s vocals ( imagine this song with ed`s full force in MYM); pretty much everything about this one is great.
Just read that article; good read...Actually the Target deal was really good. I love Stone`s insight on it.

I enjoy the first minute then it starts to grate a little. I do like that you get to track 4 of BS and you're like whoah, this is really moving. But then it just halts.cutuphalfdead wrote:I hate Gonna See My Friend.

Got Some/The Fixer:
Love them both...Got Some`s music is superv..i kinda hate how the guitars sound in this album ( like fucking keyboards) but here they are pretty good..specially in the bridge section. And Matt is great here too.
The Fixer might be the most divisive song in PJ catalogue, i know that; and i just love it....the bass, Ed, the piano..it all works for me.

I get the feeling stone was the mastermind behind that whole deal, but that might just because he explains it well.VinylGuy wrote:Gonna see my friend is such a strong opener...even if i dont love Ed`s vocals ( imagine this song with ed`s full force in MYM); pretty much everything about this one is great.

I don't hate GSMF, but it's far from great. That's the problem with the whole album really.

Re: Lets Actually Listen to the Album: Backspacer
My main gripe about this album is it's wall to wall Ed. There needs to be a little space, a little instrumentation. Seriously, just 1 minute of space across the album would have improved it. Thinking about it now, the outro of JG, the solo in AtW and the outro of FoN are the only instrumental breaks.

Yeah. Hearing him explain it makes you wonder why we're all still raging about it. Sometimes, just sometimes, I think to myself... do I *really* think this band are sellouts? And then the next thing they say reminds me that yeah, I do.stupidmop wrote:I get the feeling stone was the mastermind behind that whole deal, but that might just because he explains it well.VinylGuy wrote:Gonna see my friend is such a strong opener...even if i dont love Ed`s vocals ( imagine this song with ed`s full force in MYM); pretty much everything about this one is great.

Re: Lets Actually Listen to the Album: Backspacer
That's my only worry about the new album. Looking down the tracklist, it sort of feels like Eddie and the Pearl Jams. Maybe that's unfair, I need to hear it, but yeah.LetMeSleep wrote:My main gripe about this album is it's wall to wall Ed. There needs to be a little space, a little instrumentation. I dont think he was the mastermind..these guys works with a big team of laywers, management..Kelly Curtis seems to be the guy...stupidmop wrote:I get the feeling stone was the mastermind behind that whole deal, but that might just because he explains it well.VinylGuy wrote:Gonna see my friend is such a strong opener...even if i dont love Ed`s vocals ( imagine this song with ed`s full force in MYM); pretty much everything about this one is great.

Still, it was a smart move. At the time, you may resent it because it was Targer, but the whole deal was pretty sweet.

I bet Eddie named most of the songs even before Backspacer/Avocado. You shoudn't worry about the tracklist.harmless wrote:That's my only worry about the new album. I just think Eddie named most of the songs in Pearl Jams whole catalog even if someone else wrote the song because he's the main lyricist.harmless wrote:How do you mean before...?Mike wrote:I bet Eddie named most of the songs even before Backspacer/Avocado.
