I listened too it a lot over the weekend... and it struck me, nothing really stands out as my new fav Quasi song...
You Can Stay But You Got To Go, I LOVE, but nothing else on it has really got stuck in my head...
but overall? its probably my 2nd favorite Quasi album (still love When the Going Gets Dark)
The SM & Jicks shows when Janet was behind the kit were some of my favorite shows I've ever seen in Portland. 4 or 5 shows at the Doug Fir in particular are really hard to beat, even 4 years & 100s of show later.
So, is this reunion ever going to happen? I say no but it wouldn't totally surprise me if it did. I just don't know what more they have to prove, which I think is part of the reason they broke up in the first place. There isn't anywhere to go but down when your last album is The Woods.
Although I must say - take the last 5 years or post-SK material, throw the best songs together on 1 disc and you've got an excellent album. It's enough to make you at least think about it...
But I sort of hope they don't do it. I do see a one-off show happening at some point for some reason but I doubt we'll get a full-scale reunion.
Carrie was on Letterman last year (for Portlandia) and he mentioned that she had been on the show before with both SK and WF... and asked whats up with them these days, and she said, shes in the studio right now...
Havnt heard a word since... dont know which band? dont know anything else (ive looked around the net a few times)
Id guess its WF, and with Quasi out on tour for the fall... probably wont be anything till Spring?
I totally agree with the SK having no where to go but down after the Woods... and something else that often gets forgotten, they almost split up after All Hands on the One Beat, but then got together for One Beat, and if it wasnt for the song Entertain, theyd probably not have made the Woods either, but they knew they wanted to release Entertain.
Wish Quasi was playing a show closer, just couldnt get off to get down to Chicago this time.
Janet LIVE is one awesome experience with any band.

Truth.
Saw her twice with SK and once with WF, all three were a masterclass.
SK 4x, WF 1x, Quasi 1x...
when we went to the Quasi show, we walk in this lil tiny club, about a hour early, and the only people there, are the bar tenders, Janet, Sam, and the other 2 opening bands... Sam actually joined the crowd of maybe 10 people for the first opening band, I didnt even realize he was standing next to me till he asked me how I liked whomever it was (forget the bands name) seeing Janet play in a club that small was so amazing... and, the bootleg exists as well.
