I forgot you’re finished with Star Wars if it’s him don’t worry. They’ll do it really well and surprise you. And it’ll make beautiful sense as he’s the throughline in all three trilogies.

They’ve literally used blue sky ideas from TFA, you can see them in the art of book.
Most noticeably the emperors throne room underwater with Rey swimming to the chair.
And other stuff.

So if that’s in play, the book also has Anakin as a force ghost but he’s burned and half ruined, like a split spirit. They obviously never went with it.

This got me thinking and wondering if Palpatine was the plan all along when firing up this new trilogy. I highly doubt they just decided to bring palpatine back for the final film for fan service. Im assuming it was the plan all along. Then, i ask, why haven't the prior two movies at least alluded to "something darker going on in the galaxy". There have been zero hints at something like this. I think it would have made it far more interesting . Instead, we were just led to believe that snoke was the bad guy, and Kylo was the new dark side enforcer. Because of that, as of now - prior to seeing the film, the idea of palpatine all of a sudden coming back feels.....cheap.

Of course, this can all change once I see the movie.

now maybe JJ is reversing it in the ST.......and the audience has no clue about Palpatine's hands in the cookie jar the whole time.

IMHO, if the writers had wanted him to be definitively dead, they just could have had the first trooper to find him check his pulse and shake his head no. Super quick, super simple. By not taking that simple step, I can only imagine they wanted there to be some doubt.

Interesting thing about Palpatines death. He falls down screaming into the Death Star generator core and there’s that huge flash of blue light comes back up (you see it flash over Vader’s helmet)

The falcon and two x wings enter that generator core at a far greater speed than Palpatine falling into it... and no huge blue flash for them..

So he self immolated into some sorta force spirit and inhabited Vader’s helmet maybe?

You thought the Emperor was dead. The rebels saved the galaxy from the tyrannical Empire. Vader helped save his son and redeem himself and turned good to defeat the Emperor.

Snoke was JJs creation. As were the knights of ren. And they’re back. Hopefully featured prominently.
I’m predicting the classic bad guy explains his plans to the pesky kids and it’ll be about Snoke being his emmisary or useful idiot.

Doubt he’ll be ignored or omitted.
