I think the problem is that in each of Trump's impeachable ambitions they see a valid opportunity to advance part of their party's platform, so they're willing to run their party into the ground in hopes of getting their policies across.
Also I think we need to note the increase of constitutional Republicanism -- that is, a large portion of party leadership who take a narrow reading of our founding document, and basically jettison all other laws and established policies that doesn't suit their agenda. The Tea Party hangover is sort of the unnamed driver behind much of this shit.

Dumb fuck thinks that killing Baghdadi will get numbers like when Obama killed Bin Laden — and it probably will for a minute — but he’s just entrenched us into a decade-long battle with ISIS for biliions of dollars and way more innocent lives when our prior engagement policy in Syria was letting them fight it out themselves AND keeping US civilian beheadings at an all-time low

This Baghdadi guy isnt significant. What did killing Bin Laden accomplish? Give it a month or two and there will be some new baddie at the top of the list. It's meaningless.
I know Trump doesn't want to get booed out of the stadium while throwing the first pitch but there is also a part of me that wonders if he's physically able to do it with his nuerological problems. I went back and watched Bush do it after 9/11. He aced that shit. Probably the most impressive thing he did as president.
now that trump has finally gotten his first taste of bloodlust, and the ratings bump that comes with it, i wonder if he'll finally sign up for that war with Iran that he keeps turning down
