If MLB wants to eliminate plays like this, and make it abundantly clear where the player is supposed to go, add the safety base in foul territory like they have in softball.
Yeah jeebus he beat the fkn throw! It was a shit throw AND it was late.
I will bet you anything you hook Guriel up to a lie detector, he let his glove hit Turner on purpose.
It was the correct call, but it is a rule that doesn’t HAVE to be enforced, and it’s a bad rule. I can almost guarantee that it gets looked at and maybe adjusted over the winter.

Little Leagues around here use the safety bag too. All leagues really should. It just makes plays at first so much safer in general with more bag to aim for. It really does not change the game at all either.

Fortunately it's the only controversial/judgement call Sam Holbrook has ever made during a playoff series.....
It was technically the correct call, but the umpire shouldn't go out of his way to randomly enforce a rule that generally isn't in a World Series game.
It would be like in the pre-replay world, if the umpires all of a sudden decided to negate a double play in a world series game because the shortstop never actually stepped on second base.

Reid, your rebuttal?
Yeah actually I would love to hear your take on this. Are you glad it was called the way it was called?
Shouldn’t have been called but as an Astros fan I was happy it was. Cold comfort, as it turned out.
I doubt Yuli did anything on purpose except try to make the play. There is plenty of evidence in this series and beyond that he’s an amazing defensive player. That was a bad throw and a clumsy series of events.
