I agree that 1st party Sony > 1st party Microsoft, however, Halo > Uncharted, Halo > GoW, Halo > Horizon, etc... A true exclusive killer app, especially at launch, sells systems.

Didn't both PS4 and X1 have subpar launch games? Switch had Zelda.

I have a hunch a new Spider-Man game will be a launch window game too. That would move units.

Odd flex but ok.

If they already own the trademark to Playstation, why would they also need to trademark the incremental version numbers?

To prevent squatters?

I bet there is no Playstation 6. It will just be a streaming service called "Playstation". By the late 20s they should have the kinks worked out on the technology.

So is the Ps5 just backward compatible to Ps4 or is the rumors that its compatible with 1,2,3 as well true?

They haven't announced diddly squat. The rumor is there are ongoing discussions with publishers happening now. I wonder if that is due to the earlier generations. The PS4 backwards compatibility should be relatively easy (both digital and physical versions).

Supposedly there is something about the PS3 (cell processor?) that makes it difficult or cost prohibitive to emulate or set up backward compatibility. I guess PS1, 2, and 4 don't have that issue. I have like 40 PS3 games on a shelf. I have a PS3 but it sound like its about to explode. Would be nice.

I wonder if it will be some sort of hybrid with Playstation Now and using the licenses from PS3 discs.

Some Playstation 5 controller patents:

Looks like some small modifications to an already great controller.

Apparently, retailers are allowed to begin preorder notification sign-ups for PS5. I never knew that was something retailers needed permission to do. I mean It's just an email.

XBox Series X is the new console for Microsoft.

Continuing the trend of confusing names.

It’s too large. I guess that’s why it is backward compatible with everything. Was price revealed?

Happy to see it can sit horizontally or vertically. But still, I can see that not fitting in a lot of entertainment centers.
