Re: Garden(ing)
Maybe this is a silly question, but how high? I’m thinking six inches off the ground?

Re: Garden(ing)
Our planter boxes are about 6" deep, above this crappy clay southern soil, and our vegetables grown fine. The roots will go down as deep as they can in the good soil, then start to spread horizontally at the bottom of the good soil.

When using boxes, how often do you replenish the soil?

Only if it seems it is getting low. It will stay rich with nutrients if you let your dying plants decompose at the end of the season. I also use some composting for keeping fertilizedwashing machine wrote:When using boxes, how often do you replenish the soil?

if there are rabbits nearby you'll want to get one of those raised gardens that comes with a mesh-y cover . or one that sits on stilts a few feet above the ground

We’ve been pulling ragweed and horseweed for the past two days, with still more to go. Fuck this stuff.

Re: Garden(ing)
my vegetable garden this year is abundant and defying all odds
it's on the ground, but the rabbits arent eating most of it
i think the pumpkin plant growing around it is keeping them at bay (it has prickly stems)
