That BDO podcast is excellent. I didn't know about the death in '01. Damn sad. Another reason to think Limp Bizkit are a bunch of tools.

The Phish Long May They Run pod is fascinating. I had never heard a note of Phish's music beforehand and knew nothing about them. It's fascinating to see this band from afar, kind of like looking at PJ and everything about them (inc RM).

Ep 3 in particular is stellar looking at individuals in their set up and how they tackled ticketing and Ticketmaster.

Not sure I'll check out the band's music though.

BEAR AND A BANJO is a fictional anthology series that centers around the unlikely musical partnership between Bear whose powerful voice can change hearts, minds, even history, and Banjo, a guitar player with a mischievous persona. Spanning through time from the 1930s to the 1970s, each episode places this duo at pivotal moments in American history where they unwittingly influence and define events that would shape the 20th century. From the wrongful conviction of blues legend Leadbelly and card games with Sonny Liston, to the wedding of Sister Rosetta Tharpe and the birth of the CIA, the healing and connective power of music is a key device in each narrative. These stand alone plot lines also culminate in a song from the upcoming eponymous album produced by multiple Grammy winner T Bone Burnett, featuring songs written by Jason “Poo Bear” Boyd, Jared Gutstadt, and Bob Dylan.

Not nearly as good as I'd hoped it was going to be. Entertaining enough though that I've listened to 3 eps.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

He’s super intense in a weird way.
Met him briefly in New York. Definitely possessed of a presence is the only way to put it.

I was at an opening that he attended. But I was way too intimidated to talk to him. He's one of my heroes.

I have a lovely little video of him playing Guaranteed (playing it perfectly) to the other Ed. Who is floored at the end :)
He really really gets into everything full tilt when he takes it on board. Guitar included

Listening to a How I Built This episode with Alex Blumberg and Matt Lieber, the guys who founded Gimlet Media. It’s so easy to forget how recently podcasting was considered “fringe”.

Listening to Mike Flanagan and Kate Siegel in The Boo Crew is just wonderful. Lots of insights on his movies and their creative partnership.

This is a brilliant mind bending wtf listen. This shit doesn’t happen here.

Well. Apparently it does. Such a great listen give it a spin

Spy stories typically start on dimly lit streets in Eastern Europe, not in Dublin suburbia. But this isn’t your typical spy story. An Irish KGB ring, deadly poisonings, arms deals - Irish people have been involved, knowingly or unknowingly, in the deeply secret world of Russian spying. Enter the shadowy realm of Ireland & Russian espionage. (2017)
