I'm still trying to swing the 4k tv upgrade by my wife. she agrees the picture is amazing but cannot see the logic in replacing something that works. I cannot fight that logic with anything other than "oh no, how did this brick go through the TV screen...?" so I'm stuck. That's ok, means I might get a PS5 instead of a 4 right when they retire.

Unplug the HDMI cable on a Friday night and use an RCA connector instead, then off-handedly mention the picture quality throughout the weekend. Replace HDMI on Sunday night. Then switch back to RCA on Wednesday, but then back to HDMI Friday afternoon. Then switch to RCA Sunday night. "Honey, have you noticed the TV acting strange over the past few weeks?" Do this for two more weeks BUT DO NOT use the same schedule any particular week so that it appears to be erratic. You will get a new TV within a month.

For the record, I only take my cavalier "throw it on top of the protein" approach for meat/bun sandwiches, like a hamburger or pulled pork. For a square sandwich, I do take your "butter both sides" approach, like the rule-adhering sheep you want me to be.
