I'd say "On the Turning Away" is their "Sirens" -- syrupy power ballads full of canned life "lessons" and tasty guitar solos right out of the Richie Sambora playbook.

I love "Learning to Fly." Long before I had any awareness of Pink Floyd's career trajectory, the "PRWMG," etc., I fell for this song like only fourteen year-old boys can fall for songs. I bought this CD the same day I bought Dude Ranch by Blink-182, with gift card money from Christmas 1997. I ended up trading the Blink disc in for store credit a few months later, but "Learning to Fly" kickstarted an obsession and still hits the sweet spot. "Can't keep my eyes from the circling skies" is a lyric that still evokes a lot of mystery and wonder for me.

AMLoR came out the year before I got my license and finished school. I can't listen to "Learning to Fly" without invoking those sweet memories of the freedom of cruising the streets in my own car with nothing to do but ignore some Uni lectures. Gets my vote here.
