Chris: ...and I’ve been through a lot of stuff, in the last couple of years, particularly, that has really changed my attitudes about all sorts of things.

Like what?
Chris: [Stammers] Well, I think, you know, it’s, it’s, you know, I think it’s hard sometimes.

I don't really like the Black Crowes but I remember a lot of their songs, so I just went down a YouTube rabbit hole after reading that they were getting back together. It's pretty amazing how swiftly Chris Robinson transformed from his '90's aesthetic, where he kind of looked like one of the members of KISS right after they started performing without makeup, into peace-sign flashing hippie. Seemed like maybe this happened around the time of Lions? In the promo footage for By Your Side he still has that leathery, 15-miles-of-bad-road, 47-year-old-woman-who-smokes-two-packs-a-day-and-dyes-her-hair-jet-black look about him, but by the time he's performing "Soul Singing" on Letterman he looks like he's on his way to a costume party dressed as John Lennon. What triggered this?

I did see these guys in 2000 when they were touring with Jimmy Page, which was a lot of fun. But very little of their own music ever really landed for me.

He became a huge dead fan.

They are on stern today. Bunch of videos coming up on youtube. Interview. Looks like they might have played?

I watched the tour announcement video and that was enough for me. I don’t even care how it sounds, I’ll never give either of these assholes or their projects a dime of my money again. I’m just done.

$150 for a halfway decent seat in Tampa to hear symm. Not even close to their best album. Just sad and sort of goofy. I loved this band

your timeline is a little fuzzy. He started off round 1990 looking kinda like a lost member of Guns N Roses. But by the second album he had pretty quickly transitioned into the hippy vibe.

the period you're talking about with By Your Side was a classic "return to form." He cut his hair and shaved his beard and started dressing more like Get a Grip era Steven Tyler. They were consciously returning to rock and roll on that. Then he reverted back to hippy stuff with Lions and pretty much everything after that.

yes, i'm a stalker.

I want to drink with you and listen to music.

God, watching this howard stern stuff.... They are sucking me in. now im considering possibly going to a show.

I think, ultimately, if i find a cheap ticket i might go. Unless the videos surfacing from the tour are awful. I just fucking love Chris' voice.

Fuck these guys, Why couldnt they just get some of the old fucking band back together? You know, it probably is all bullshit. If they really were in a good place then they'd have no problem having some of the original/long time members with them.

yea, fuck em. Im out.

Yeah, no. In the meantime, I listened to High Water II a couple of times in the past few weeks and really few they were on to something. Shame.

I’ll be there when the Black Crowes eat some crow and come to a smaller venue and play for like $50 a seat...so I am probably never going to see them again.

Who is going to see these shows? The hardcore fans are pissed off and the casual rock concert crowd is not going to shell out those prices.
