getting the roku for each tv. from what i've been able to tell, you can use your tv's usb port as a power source rather than having to plug into a wall outlet. now to figure out which one to get.

i take this back. every other review i've read on the appropriate usb cables say that they don't provide sufficient power.

Really? I have a 3800R set-up like this at work and home. The plug-in adapter utilizes a USB connection, thus is shipped with a cable, and is only rated at 1 amp. Can you check the specs of your television? It may list the rated output current of the USB port.

i just checked my tv's power output: AC110-120V 60Hz. this should work. after all, it's not like the tv is 20 years old. i only bought it 4 years ago.

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Roku is awesome. I have a Roku stick and Roku Express. They both use usb power on the back of the tv, then plug into HDMI for output.

I know there are more and more Smart TVs, but I prefer plain TVs and just add my streaming option via a Roku (or other device). Your TV is more likely to last longer than the software embedded in the tv.
