I enjoyed S1 as well, but S2 is better in every sense.

So far it's not as gripping as S2, but still very entertaining. The Japanese actors still dominate in terms of performance quality and depth of character.

Episodes 4 and 5 were pretty great. I'll spoiler to be polite:

Edgar turning on his boss was awesome.

Season one is slow. Season two fixes that.

halfway through the first season now. It's funny to think that this show was released in 2015 because of where we've ended up as a country.

The acting is only alright at times, but the guy from Hellboy is interesting more often than not. I wish it wasn't telegraphing things in the writing as much as it is though. I mean, weird friend who is weirdly involved in things at the weirdest times seems to be an odd choice for the show to take. I liked the part where Lem asked them "what, you think we collect his films to give them back to him?" good story point for them to make to expand the idea of where the films come from.

I almost liked the editing of the episode where they kept bouncing from story to story and how Joe and Juliana were both on clandestine operations and doing almost the same thing at the same time. "Almost" liked it because there was a definite time difference (three hours by my count due to time zones) but Juliana's story almost seemed to be happening later in the evening than Joe's.

It’s gone Woke. But not in a way that serves the story like Watchmen or Frozen II

my boss and I were talking about it and he said that stopping on the 2nd season is the way to go so I feel pretty good about where we stopped.

That's what my boss said too. Apparently everything that was exciting about the series for me (and him, from what he said) was slowly jettisoned over the years leaving you with that.
