this thread is starting to sound like a girlfriend who just can't accept that you're breaking up with her.

Open Sky is probably the song they soundchecked for London 18. If you listen to the recording you can definitely hear Ed sing "open sky" for the chorus.

NYNM has been floating around since Avocado sessions so wouldn't be surprised if that eventually resurfaces (I'm still holding out for Of The Earth to make it to a record).

Did I miss that they sound checked a new song in London?
Yeah I must have missed this too! Is there any way to listen to it? Checked YouTube and it's not there.
Happy Birthday

Yes, if they wanted to release a "Lost Dogs 2" just so they could have another way of repackaging "State of Love and Trust," "Breath," "Man of the Hour," etc., then they could get something out pretty easily. And yes, there is a lot of substandard crap like "Santa God" and "Turning Mist" and "Chinese" that they could include to pad out a release like this. Going back to my initial post, I think it is to their credit that they haven't done either of these things just for the sake of putting a product on the market.

The original "Lost Dogs," for all its annoying overdubs, retakes, and occasionally curious omissions, really cleared a pretty high bar as far as rarities albums go. It unearthed a number of high quality, finished "new" songs (the Binaural outtakes, "All Night," etc.), gave widespread release to things only previously available in limited format (the holiday singles), and put a lot of their other best-known B-sides in one place. And it told a story. I wish the recordings were all unedited originals, but in terms of the material it collects, in my opinion it's every bit the equal of the studio albums of the 1991-2003 era (and superior to the studio albums of the subsequent era) and a lovely way of tying a ribbon on their years with Epic.

A new career-spanning "Lost Dogs 2," assuming they could work out logistics of a release that contains both Epic and post-Epic material, would comprise (a) leftover material from 1991-2003 that didn't make the cut for a thirty-track release fifteen years ago, and (b) whatever is still in the can from 2004-2019, generally unproductive years that barely produced any actual released material, let alone an abundance of quality stray tracks. A lot of the songs listed previously are songs I really like ("Leatherman," "Happy When I'm Crying," "Angel," "Sunburn"), but I'm not surprised that Sony -- who to my knowledge still owns this material -- hasn't anchored a release around them in an era where album sales are bottoming out.

Not to say there isn't a right way to get some of that stuff out (a Complete Holiday Singles seems logical and inevitable, probably in Spotify playlist format), and again, I'd love to be wrong -- how awesome would it be if, like, eight more new, finished songs from the Irons years suddenly materialized? -- but I don't envision Sony sinking any of their increasingly dwindling resources into a Pearl Jam barrel-scrape release.
I want to hear the Yield sessions version of Of the Girl.

That's probably all true. But my OCD would love 'Lost Dogs 2'. Even though it would scrape the barrel, Im still interested to hear 'Sonic Reducer' or 'Angel' in better quality (new master..). And 'Lost Dogs 2' would probably still be 70% stuff from their Sony years 1991-2003 since I agree that there's probably not much recorded for the records after that. Allthough the avocado sessions were fruitfull, there was talk about an EP of leftover stuff ;). I'm pretty sure that both BS and LB have some left over tracks, maybe 1-2 only. With 'Let it Ride', 'Cold Confession' and 'Off the Earth' there should be enough to valid a Lost Dogs 2. And I prefer to have those tracks released now when the band is still touring instead of ten years from now orso. but maybe this is just my OCD talking...

I still have flashbacks of holding the Lost Dogs LP in hand at a Virgin Megastore in 2004 and going "nah, I have the CD, I don't need this"

What a dope!
