Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
"The hero that doesnt need to come from somebody special"
was the coolest thing star wars has done since "i am your father"
It betrayed nothing and I hate talking about this because clearly i feel passionate about it being as it stands after the last jedi. It was fantastic.

Oh I don’t need her to be from some powerful Jedi parents.
I just want her to be given and answer. The truth. And us too.

Why can't we just leave it as Kylo having told her the truth? Its fucking beautiful and brilliant.dimejinky99 wrote:Oh I don’t need her to be from some powerful Jedi parents.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
Exactly. If she is saying that it isn't the truth, then clearly they have plans for her lineage that is more than just "two nobodys". Which sucks. They don't need to tie this any further into Skywalker lore. I like how it is now.Strat wrote:Why can't we just leave it as Kylo having told her the truth? Well read the tweet from the piece.

It just seems like fan service at this point. People aren't happy with the explanation in the last movie, so they are fixing it

Or kylo is a mind raping manipulative fuck who was trying to use her biggest fear against her to control her?

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
Sure, but we dont like it. Its very...."basic" if you will. Its the obvious choice/answer for Kylo to manipulate her and its a very obvious choice to make Rey a child of someone powerful. Riann Johnson took a risk, a leap of faith, and to change it does feel like fan service as Ruddo stated above.dimejinky99 wrote:Or kylo is a mind raping manipulative fuck who was trying to use her biggest fear against her to control her?

Lucas, at the time, took a major risk and pivot to something far more powerful and unique for a villain to make him the father of our hero.
Make Star Wars risky again!

The way they left it after TLJ would be the worst solution for her. I really hope she finds out more in TROS.

Even without what daisy said about it it would be horrible to leave it dangling like that. Narratively too.

Nothing is dangling though. "Sold you off for drinking money. They're dead in a pauper's grave in the Jakku desert. You come from nothing"dimejinky99 wrote:Even without what daisy said about it it would be horrible to leave it dangling like that. Narratively too.
That is very concrete. I love it.
