Re: Star Wars : The Mandalorian (Disney+ 2020)
ok guys, i have a dumb question: in episode 1 when mando (or whatever they're calling him) has the tracking device that homes in on baby yoda, how was that device able to identify and locate where he was without another device already planted on cute little baby yoda? did i miss something or just completely fail to appreciate how these things work?

They didn't explicitly answer this. Not that I recall, anyway. It could be one of those "that's just the way it works, don't think about to much" things. Or it may be something they'll get into more as the show goes on. Either way, I'm okay with suspending my disbelief here.Chris_H_2 wrote:ok guys, i have a dumb question: in episode 1 when mando (or whatever they're calling him) has the tracking device that homes in on baby yoda, how was that device able to identify and locate where he was without another device already planted on cute little baby yoda? did i miss something or just completely fail to appreciate how these things work?

That could be super interesting, actually. Fun way to tie that back into the story. But I doubt it given that the Mando had trackers for the other people he captured earlier and I assume not all, if any, were Force sensitive -- or had midichlorian counts high enough to register (if in fact ALL lifeforms have SOME midichlorians; which is something I'm still not 100% on).tragabigzanda wrote:maybe it tracks midichloriansdimejinky99 wrote:Chris_H_2 wrote:ok guys, i have a dumb question: in episode 1 when mando (or whatever they're calling him) has the tracking device that homes in on baby yoda, how was that device able to identify and locate where he was without another device already planted on cute little baby yoda? did i miss something or just completely fail to appreciate how these things work?

I don't think that is it, though. Because he had a tracker on Horatio Sanz' character in the beginning. Then, in the meeting with Carl Weathers, they mentioned trackers on bounties as well.

Ruddo nails it
The client has some sort of tracking number for the asset but only the last five digits.

also, if that was the case, they should've been able to locate luke when he marooned on planet anch-to using the same homing devices. that thing would've been buzzing harder than a chile's pager announcing your table is ready.durdencommatyler wrote:That could be super interesting, actually.
