ok guys, i have a dumb question: in episode 1 when mando (or whatever they're calling him) has the tracking device that homes in on baby yoda, how was that device able to identify and locate where he was without another device already planted on cute little baby yoda? did i miss something or just completely fail to appreciate how these things work?

That could be super interesting, actually. Fun way to tie that back into the story. But I doubt it given that the Mando had trackers for the other people he captured earlier and I assume not all, if any, were Force sensitive -- or had midichlorian counts high enough to register (if in fact ALL lifeforms have SOME midichlorians; which is something I'm still not 100% on).

also, if that was the case, they should've been able to locate luke when he marooned on planet anch-to using the same homing devices. that thing would've been buzzing harder than a chile's pager announcing your table is ready.

there's got to be something on BY considering those other guys find them after they've been walking for awhile. So whatever it is it's coded for the BY, not the location.

I think it's really interesting that The Mando was paid to bring BY back alive (though Herzog did give his pragmatic caveat at the end there) and the IG droid was paid to kill BY. That opens up a lot of really interesting questions.

there's got to be something on BY considering those other guys find them after they've been walking for awhile. So whatever it is it's coded for the BY, not the location.

I could've sworn the guy said it was a DNA tracker.
