To be clear, i was not at the listening party - i just copy and pasted that review from the pit. Wholly underwhelming for sure.

I was prepared. But I really appreciate the honesty here. A Backspacer leftover was the most worrying thing. Also: MORE produced than Backspacer? What, did Britney Spears guest on it?

I have to say i did not liked this song very much. I was really disappointed with this one because of all the hype. It`s a pretty (too) radio friendly ballad. Comparing it with Black is a joke too me. It was still interesting the guitars sounded a bit like 80 rock too me. But yeah I think i liked this song the least of all.
This is everything I was afraid of.

I'm actually a bit excited to hear the parts that made this reviewer say "What is that?" It sounds like at the very least, there is some experimentation going on.

I really hope that Sleeping By Myself doesn't sound like a joke to me. Because if it does, that's an extremely unfunny joke and I told you this band didn't do humour.

Hard to get much from this little review. The more produced than Backspacer bit is a bit bothersome though.

Hard to determine what this guy's level of "boring" is. One man's boredom is another's interest.

Is this the soundcheck song? Actually, I've thought 80s rock myself listening to that. I still thought it'd be awesome but yeah, 80s rock had occurred to me.

It's like FoN all over again. :(

I'm not taking this to seriously cause he calls half of it boring and a couple of songs a joke, yet still comes away saying yeah cool.

More production heavy than backspacer though...uhhhh

Let's just hope that means it's more detailed and colourful instead of polished and shiny.

I think if you listen to MYM, you see immediately that there's some wonky guitar effects on the solos. Maybe that's what the reviewer is talking about, as I wouldn't be surprised to hear it throughout the album.

Guys, we all knew Sirens was going to be a radio friendly ballad with cheesy eighties guitars when Brendan O'Brien started sing its praises.

I dont know. i dont think you can hear production in that kind of a room. yield comes across as produced too....

Also, this poster, what songs does he like? I think I much rather have someone be not so excited off the bat than being all Jamily about it.

We shall see

otherwise - RIP Pearl Jam :peace:

True. I wonder what his view of middle period PJ is. Binaural could be described as 'boring', but it's genius.

The curmudgeon in me is super, super stoked for how much fun he's going to have with this record.

Interesting.
Things I find exciting:
1. Pit member isn't that thrilled
2. Reference to boredom
3. Drum and vocal verse
4. MYM is the fastest song

Things I find worrisome:
1. Over produced
2. Sleeping By Myself

Optimism up 2 ticks.
