Ah... I see. That makes sense. And also makes sense why TVG agrees.tragabigzanda wrote:I thought that fight in the slot canyon in the beginning of E2 was fantastic. Tight framing, hand to hand combat, no music. It was maybe the brawniest Star Wars moment since the arm came off in the cantina in ANHdurdencommatyler wrote:So weird. I thought the other 2 eps looked much cheaper. It's interesting how people can see things so differently.VinylGuy wrote:well, i still like this show, but damn that ep was a letdown. The action was so fucking dull. No choreography at all. I dont know what happened but it also looked cheap and small.

Interesting though how you connect "brawny" with "not cheap".

Re: Star Wars : The Mandalorian (Disney+ 2020)
yeah both of ep 1 and 2 looked more close to ROFTJ. This felt...tv. A really cheap scifi show. Even the sets were poorly lighten.
The framing was awful really...specially during the mando's recovery of BY.

So funny. I saw it 100% the opposite way. Ep 3 is the first one that didn't look like cardboard to me. The lighting especially.

Interesting. I couldn't disagree more. But I ran into this with LV a lot, too. Something about the way he saw things was/is so different from the way I do. I think that's really fascinating.
But it does seem clear that it has a lot to do with gender and the sensibilities therein as it regards this conversation, not so much my talks with LV. But this one.

No, I do. But I think that means something different to me than it does for a lot of men who identify as male. I don't mean that to sound condescending or judgy or anything. But I have a hard time understanding and/or tolerating traditionally accepted gender lines/stereotypes. Especially when it comes to this stuff. Again, that doesn't make me "better" than anyone or anything like that. Just different perceptions.

Re: Star Wars : The Mandalorian (Disney+ 2020)
You associate words like "gritty" and "brawny" with masculinity. The one episode directed by a woman doesn't fit your aesthetic criteria, doesn't feel "gritty" or "brawny" or at a piece with the action sequence directed by men with which you identify. To be clear, again, none of this is better or whatever. Just interesting. And it makes sense to some degree given our differing perspectives and the way we each choose to interact to our gender & societal expectations.

Re: Star Wars : The Mandalorian (Disney+ 2020)
It did look gritty, but it also looked shitty.
The scene with the doctor and BY was also fucking awful. From the acting to the overall digital photography.
Maybe this one had the lowest budget from three ep we saw? I dont know.
Of course i still think this one is fun.

Re: Star Wars : The Mandalorian (Disney+ 2020)
Oh. Okay. Well you specifically evoked a poster that you know offends me and has attacked me multiple times and then you compared him to me. That seems like a pretty obvious dig, like you were wounded and wanted to hurt me back and knew just how to go about doing that.tragabigzanda wrote:Oh I’m not offended at all, just lost
But if you're telling me I'm out of line on that score and that what I'm perceiving wasn't intentional, then I'll take your word for it. Sorry for misreading things. And I apologize again.
