Ed pretty much always chose what this band did, nothing's changed there.

My dream would be with Steve Albini, I think he'd bring out the best in the band.LetMeSleep wrote:But working with a different producer, and not a radical change either, would be interesting. Maybe an old school guy like Glyn Johns or his son Ethan Johns, or maybe Jimmy Iovine. Someone who isn't going to spook the horses.
Or Rick Rubin, but no way PJ are going into a recording session with 30 finished songs.

Cept now he's all happy and sentimental and easy going. Sometimes I miss prententious jackass and a little dark ed. Blah blah glad he's happy etc.harmless wrote:Ed pretty much always chose what this band did, nothing's changed there.
Someone else in the band needs to step up. Cmon Jeff, time to rule with an iron fist.

No, he hasn't, but it's not a new problem, so you either stick with them or you don't. There's no point dissing Ed for doing what he's always done. You either like where PJ's gone or you don't, but it's kind of boring to read that everything could change if they just listened to us. They won't.dimejinky99 wrote:He hasn't always gotten it right though, lets be fair.harmless wrote:Ed pretty much always chose what this band did, nothing's changed there.

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
So 1 of the tracks was definitely recorded for and is a leftover from the Backspacer sessions. I guess that was going to be a part of that lost EP. Ti's kind of sad that you wait 4 years for an album and 2/12 tracks are at least 4 years old. I can understand if they didn't fit onto Backspacer (thematically, tonally, or too over bearing) but the time between releases is disappointing. Ah well.

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
I agree. This would be really nice. But by now it sounds like the band are happy with the dynamic. Sometimes I wish Matt would throw his sticks down mid-concert and say "FUCK THIS SHIT" like the guy from KOL did. But it's really not likely.stupidmop wrote:Cept now he's all happy and sentimental and easy going. Sometimes I miss prententious jackass and a little dark ed. I'm really hoping BO'B hasn't shat all over this.

I hope there's more space and instrumental breaks on this one. Less Ed blanketing the whole album.

I just want to hear it. It may be because I'm drunk but 1) I'm getting more annoyed at BO'B, I wish he didn't think he was in the fucking band, and 2) see point 1.

Blaming BoB for everything is liking kicking your dog for barking while you argue with your wife.

That's true, you're right. I've just argued the same in the other thread. You either like what the band wants to do now, or you don't. It's so stupid that I find that difficult, but there it is. 22 fucking years.

Me too. It sounds like there's enough eclecticism and mood changes that they might get away with FD at the end.

Yeah and otherwise we just pretend FD never happened and end the album with Yellow Moon.harmless wrote:Me too. It sounds like there's enough eclecticism and mood changes that they might get away with FD at the end.
