Turn the light out, say goodnight
No thinking for a little while
Let's not try to figure out everything at once

I am easy to find would be my favorite album but it is a bit bloated and could be cut down by 4-5 tracks

i think they could have cut 3 main songs (roman holiday, not in kansas, and hairpin turns) and 1-2 filler songs and it would’ve been perfect

Hairpin Turns is easily one of my favorites, and I like the mood Roman Holiday sets at the beginning of the album. The only song I skip on the whole thing is Not in Kansas. And I’m pretty sure I Am Easy to Find is my favorite album by The National.

i like hairpin turns; it's a good song. i just don't think it fits on the album. i'm not sure it's even in the movie.

I see. I guess we differ there, I think it fits just fine. If I were to remove anything it would be Not in Kansas and/or the instrumentals/interludes. Every other note on the album feels perfect to me.

Listening to the Record Store Day release now. Sounds great even though it's got that bootleg-y (i.e., an actual bootleg, not a professionally mixed concert recording) sound.

I’m still absolutely in love with I Am Easy to Find. This album is absolutely beautiful. And haunting. And so special. I have a deep connection to it lyrically. I think it has Matt’s best writing to date. I am completely obsessed with the voices and the music. It is perfection to my ears. I could listen to it on repeat for days, and I do. This is a masterpiece. I think it’s clearly The National’s best work to date, which says a lot because I think they have about five truly brilliant albums. This band is the first band that I’ve ever thought could pass PJ as my all time favorite.

How I want you here...

It's almost like you're not afraid of anything I do
How I want you here
You don't know what it's like to be around you
I still got my fear
It's the way you say yes when I ask you to marry me
You don't know what you are doing
Do you think you can carry me
Over the threshold
Over and over again until oblivion?
It's the way that you're gonna stop needing to tell me
You want me as much as I want you to tell me
I'm over the threshold
Everything is gonna be totally okay until oblivion
I still got my fear
I still got my fear
It's still always you every morning I think of no matter what
How I want you here
I know I am easy to find but you know, it's never me
I still got my fears
It's like a tide in a city lifts me and carries me around
And oh, my mind is made up out of nothing, now
If nothing scares you about me and you, never put me down
Oh my mind is made up out of nothing, now
You won't walk away, won't you?
You don't walk away, don't you?
You won't walk away, won't you?
You don't walk away, don't you?

I was hoping you wouldn't see me like this
I hate to fall before your feet again
I'm the rocks they weigh down the angels with
Help me see, it won't always be like this

I guess I’m basically obsessed with the entire album except for Not in Kansas and the two “filler” songs. This is as close to a perfect record as any band has released in 20 years.

There’s a million little battles that I’m never going to win anyway

I’m still waiting for you every night with ticker tape

If you ever come around this way again, you’ll see me

Standing in the sunlight

I am easy to find
