Anders wrote:Finished The Force Awakens. I enjoyed it, even if it was written a little flat. The story itself is a really solid Star Wars story. I did not get to know Rey better, which is a shame. Poe and Leia got more time in the book though, and I liked their parts. Finn was vital to the story, and reading the book, it often felt as if he was the main character.

Interesting new parts:
1. Poe escaping Jakku
2. Explaining Starkiller Base better
3. Korr Sella died on Hosnian Prime
4. C-3PO lead the resistance to Maz’s castle
5. Leia tells Han about Snoke driving Ben/Kylo to the dark side for the first time during TFA
6. Kylo seems to have heard of Rey before TFA (at one point he says, «it is you!»)

I’ve just started The Last Jedi, which starts with Luke dreaming about a married life on Tatooine, where he didn’t with Obi-Wan. Leia got executed and the Empire won. He wakes up and thinks the force is trying to manipulate him.
both books are like director's cuts and I'm sure the ROS novelization will be the same, hence the delay after release.

Yes, I agree with that for TFA. Look forward to seeing what the TLJ and TROS books will bring.

Fandom is raving about it. All the seemingly pointless threads and hints dropped in the new canon books all tie up and pay off.

I haven’t read it due to finance issues but it’s a must read before the film I’m told

this was terrible. I assume the actual book is good but this was not. they made Han look like a 17-year-old and poor chewie looked like an actual lovable fuzzball. I get that art's a choice but it wasn't the one for me. guess I'm too married to the source material.

That’s a shame. Lost stars is usually ranked top among the new canon books

Not sure how comic adaptations are meant to do books justice

I'm about halfway through now. Hope to finish soon, so I can start Resistance Reborn.

I do like the way Jason Fry writes, and I think he brings more feeling to the characters and the conversation, than what was done for the TFA novel. We also get more individual thougts, even from BB-8.

The best scenes are the ones with Rey and Luke. They should have included the third lesson in the movie as well.

So far Canto Bight is worse than the movie, so that's not good.

The second half of the book was mostly like reading exactly what happened in the movie, without all the fancy colours and action.

I think Jason Fry did a good job, but I don’t think he had a great story to work with. The TFA book was written a bit more coldly, but the story just made better sense.

Anyway, I’ve now read both TFA and TLJ. Finally onwards to Resistance Reborn.

The ending tho. ‘Luke. Let go’

On the audiobook it’s obi wans voice.

Just read the first issue of the new Vader comic series. Wow. This is actually something we’ve all wondered about and possibly wanted them to do.
