Huh?
Maybe you missed it. A live version of betterman is to be included with the iTunes version of the record.
What are you smoking? Can I have some?

D, you crack me up.

That betterman live thing was from a fake tracklist. Nothing more.

Ti's kind of sad that you wait 4 years for an album and 2/12 tracks are at least 4 years old. I can understand if they didn't fit onto Backspacer (thematically, tonally, or too over bearing) but the time between releases is disappointing. Ah well.
TBH I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of bands reused material from older albums that never made it - they just don't publicise it.

Springsteen is notorious for it.

So is Neil. Hell, neil even uses old recordings of songs to put on new releases.
Yeah I started writing as much. Those guys tend to not have 4 years between releases though. Springsteen has 6 albums since 2000, Neil has at a guess 9 studio albums since 2000. Wow PJ have 5 since 2000. Not as bad as I thought. But the above are one writer, not 5.
I think that last sentence highlights the problem. It's often hard to have a continuous creative flow when there are various conflicting sources forcing each other to compromise their vision.
True. And actually, Springsteen and Young's 00s records are pretty diverse, flirting between many styles. That's probably more doable when it's just one person in the driving seat.

Although I'm all for Pearl Jam doing a Seeger cover album. Or even better...a Seger cover album.

It's also hard to have a continuous creative flow when you record it short spurts here and there. I have no problem with using older material just that it appears that 1 Backspacer outake set the tone for the record which ended up taking 4 years to make. From a group of very talented professional musicians/writers that seems a tiny bit slack.

What, BO'B? I totally agree. Why has the band said nothing but bullshit?

I don't see much difference in the band members promoting this thing. They have never really done much to promote albums. I expect a few band interviews to start popping up next week or so. I think BOB must really like the album, I think that is why he is out talking about it.

Other than the wall of tapes with song titles, what a complete waste of time that MYM Ed vid was. Let's watch some old guy mime the writing of lyrics then raise them to the sky/ceiling. Thanks for that.

So tomorrow, if we're lucky we should get at least 2 more reviews (enimmi and Mirella), right?

Any other ones we know about? Even if not, 4 first-hand account reviews will build a pretty good base of knowledge about this album. IIRC, for S/T there was just that one girl who got the album from her roommate and she posted a track-by-track review on the Pit. That's all I seem to remember. So anything more at this point is gravy for me.

I don't see why it's more or less pointless than the other vids. Just a bit of pointless drama. Ed write songs, let's see him write a song. Bit of a LOL at the end, done.

I don't think we were promised another review tomorrow, Mirella just said she would write one as soon as she could.

Thank you for saying that. He has 1 bad album with Pearl Jam. I remember when we were all begging to have him back. MYM sounds just fine so this dude gets an easy pass from me. If he fucks this album up I'll have a sleight problem though.

Mike spoke about the riff and added something to the whole experience. Maybe a word or two from Ed wouldn't have been too much to ask. Maybe some rehearsal shots of the chorography he did live throwing the bolt. That hip shimmy.

I mean, I don't think he's good for PJ right now, but I think pinning it all on O'Brien is pretty excessive. It's the band's record, and I think most of the issues they face are on them.

Yeah, agree with that. There were certainly other things they could've done. It wasn't consistent, but it was shot nicely.

I was excited when I saw the video was of Ed. I thought he was gonna talk about the song :(

To be fair, the equivalent of Matt's drumming vid from Ed would be "This song is really cool, I like it. We like it. We hope you do too. Ed."

It's interesting that no one has mentioned SBM being any longer. I was hoping it would have an extra bridge / chorus, maybe.

I can't remember if Matt spoke. The Ed vid just struck me as incredibly pretentious. For me, it was a missed opportunity from one of the songs writers. And does mean we will get a Jeff and Stone vid? Hope they talk about another track.

Nope, Matt didn't speak but his drumming performance wasn't wildly exciting.
