Steve Albini wrote:Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Florida Project, Tangerine, and Starlet all contended for my list. Sean Baker put together an impressive decade kind of under the radar
And A Ghost Story is another that might've made the list. But I've only seen it once

I'm still not at all confident about that list/ranking. This is a great topic for discussion.

An Elephant Sitting Still destroys absolutely every movie mentioned in this thread.

It destroys me, as well. To borrow a line, its blood is in my heart.

I regret that the thread got sidetracked with personal insults from an unsavory character, and I would very much like to see more lists.
