In slang all things are acceptable. It's why you can call something "fire" without causing a panic. Or why you can say a minute is a really long time.bodysnatcher wrote:So, stalking is acceptable now?

what? no. well, you're half right. so super fan/stalker yes, but it's not a juxtaposition of those two words: it's just the name of the song/person in the Eminem song.durdencommatyler wrote:It's basically a super fan. Well sure that's a common sense application. But according to Urban Dictionary, "stan" is a portmanteau of the words "stalker" and "fan," and refers to someone who is overly obsessed with a celebrity.bune wrote:what? no. well, you're half right. so super fan/stalker yes, but it's not a juxtaposition of those two words: it's just the name of the song/person in the Eminem song.durdencommatyler wrote:It's basically a super fan. I don't care how you relate to it or understand it. It's all true as far as I'm concerned.

Could be. I'm pretty square and don't really understand where most of slang comes from. I just report what the internet tells me. I like your take. I get UD's take. It all makes sense to me.

Re: Post Random Music-Related Thoughts You Have
So there have been a few catalogue runs I haven’t talked about album to album, including specifically the White Stripes. Now I am in the midst of Faces and don’t get how they can be so good when Rod Stewart solo is so insufferable to me. But both First Step and Long Player so far were excellent albums, in large part because the band just sounds great. I don’t even hate Rod Stewart’s voice in this context. This throws all I know into upheaval.

Rod Stewart's voice was heavily influenced by Sam Cooke. Some might say he "borrowed" it. His first few solo albums seem good.

Had Me a Real Good Time, I Feel So Good, and Around the Plynth are my favorites from the first two albums. I am in the middle of the next one. There are only 4.

Why does Fiona Apple have less albums than Tool? She is such a talent and Idler Wheel was great.

She's brilliant. All of her albums are stunners.
