Yeah, but he also was pretty proud of Inside Job.Release_Me wrote:I read somewhere that Sirens is the song Mike is most proud of. The guy wrote GTF. I'm not worried about Sirens.

Which I happen to like quite a lot. The lyrics don't ruin the song for me the way they might for some. Musically, it's excellent.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

He also wrote Yellow Ledbetter, right?
I think the major problem with Inside Job was that his lyrics were kept. Musically, it was a little standard but I did like it more than, say, Jorge. That kind of musical treatment with better lyrics would be fine by me, and there's likely to be more atmosphere because of BO'B. Yes, I did just say that.

What will really annoy me is if Sirens is covered in beautiful piano, and FD has awful keyboards.

Cool, thanks for that.
Does that mean the EPK is out there?
Gonna call some journo friends if it is
I like the suggestion that this one is more loose&mid tempo. (Mid tempo is not a bad thing).

By that token, Jimi Hendrix wrote Yellow Ledbetter and that too is a Mike song. Regardless, if Mike says he is most proud of Sirens, that can't be a bad sign considering the songs we just mentioned.

Yeah, the loose and mid-tempo thing sounds good. See what you can uncover, dime. I salute you.

Why has only one reviewer (or two) mentioned the 'overproduction'? I guess that someone who loved Backspacer wouldn't really be listening for that. But I'm still curious about what that means. 'Even more than Backspacer.'

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
the "echoey" vocals make me nervous. an album full of unthought known vocals would be disastrous.

If the instruments all sound pronounced and defined to a degree of Yield or (oh I'm so getting hated for this) Audioslave's debut album, I'll be one happy fanharmless wrote:Why has only one reviewer (or two) mentioned the 'overproduction'? Were they echoey? I can't remember. I think echoey vocals was only mentioned on FD, right? To be honest, if the rest of the album does what I'm thinking it's supposed to, maybe FD can ramp up the cheese to 11 and it'll work.

Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
they had a lot less control over the production for ten and eventually remixed it to remove the reverb.Release_Me wrote:Ten had echoey vocals.

Ending the album with that happy cheesy love keyboard would be kind of funny after an album full of songs about all the shit thats going wrong in this world.harmless wrote:Were they echoey?
