Baltimore and you. NE's offensive line is going to put the clamps on any type of shootout. They can play D, but christ. I won't let the next three weeks make me feel any better, either.
It's interesting, as a Chiefs fan, I'm still way more afraid of the Pats than the Ravens.
Ravens have that look, to me. Lamar is the MVP.

When's the last time an MVP won the superbowl?

Let's give the kid a season before we anoint him. But, yeah, I do actually hope he's the real deal. The West has been without a great QB rivalry for far too long.
Has the AFC West ever had a truly great QB rivalry? Dawson was clearly ahead of Lamonica. Stabler and Fouts weren't really great at the same time. Elway's closest competition was what, late wave Montana for a couple of seasons? Dave Krieg, perhaps? Cutler vs. Rivers could have been big if Josh McDaniels didn't fuck things up. I can't think of anything like Marino vs. O'Brien--let alone Marino vs Kelly.

That's totally fair. So, then I'd love to see the first really big one.

Yeah, Lamar will win the MVP.

Was it Kurt Warner?

Looks like the answer is Kurt Warner. And from 1989 to then, the MVP had a really good streak of winning the Super Bowl:
--1989: Montana
--1993: E. Smith
--1994: Young
--1996: Favre
--1998: TD
--1999: Warner

But in this millennium....it's amazing how many MVPs lost in the Super Bowl:
--2001: Warner
--2002: Gannon
--2005: Alexander
--2007: Brady
--2009: Manning
--2013: Manning
--2015: Newton
--2016: Ryan
--2017: Brady

I'll go on record right now, I don't think the Ravens will even be IN the Super Bowl. But if they do somehow make it, I think that trend continues.

Wondering if the only way to beat the Ravens might just be in a shootout - which the Chiefs and 49ers are probably best equipped for. I would say the Saints too but the refs will find a way to screw them

As poorly as New England has played, I think they'd beat the Ravens if another shot presents itself. It would take a creative game plan from the coaches, defense and special teams. I'm talkin' about an early onside kick, more defensive players playing offense, etc.

If the Pats keep losing and drop to the lower seed, they might face the Ravens earlier in the playoffs, eliminate them and make a clearer path for another AFC team.

key question for the Pats is just - how much data have they obtained on BAL’s signals

BAL’s offense is new so NE might only have 2-3 TB of play calling film to work with

As long as the Patriots can win out, they can stay ahead of KC and secure the #2 seed, which in my opinion is much, much more important than the #1 seed. Going to Baltimore is never fun, but what's far more dangerous is being subject to an additional chance to lose in the Wild Card round. As long as the Patriots can secure that first round bye, their odds of at least making it to the Super Bowl will be fine. And given they draw the putrid Bengals and Dolphins for two of their last three games, the key game is defeating the Bills, and thankfully for them that's in Foxboro.

A mobile QB with quick throws underneath could eke out a win (see: uninjured Josh Allen).

As a Saints fan, I find myself in the unique position today of saying thank you to the Falcons for keeping my first round bye hopes alive. Now the Saints just need to not blow it to the Colts tomorrow night before hoping for the best for the last couple of weeks of the season.

Ryan Clark on Sportscenter: Seahawks are one of the worst 11-3 teams I have ever seen. They should be a .500 team.
