No, now I'll definitely stick around, simply because you're an irrational asshole. Read my first message to you again. I'm making my tone (people confuse tone alot around here, including me) VERY clear, it was from a respectful standpoint. I SPECIFICALLY SAID THAT so you wouldn't confuse the tone. On top of that, where am I saying exactly you're "being negative"? I'm simply providing a different viewpoint that you could take, or not. It must really suck to be a bitter jerk.harmless wrote:You'll live. I could've been ruder about it. I want you to stop assuming I'm being negative about the new album based on zero evidence. Yeah, quite a lot of wrong in that post.Strat wrote:IlluminEddie wrote:I think Matt Cameron is an OK drummer, who's style is not well suited for PJ.
As for a songwriter, just my opinion, but I think he's absolute garbage. By far the worst in the band. That said, he came up with one great tune: Cropduster. I'll give him credit for that.
The songs he's written (solo) outside of that all blow - Evacuation, You Are, Get Right and In the Moonlight.
I'll give him a bit of credit for his parts in Unemployable, Save You, and Johnny Guitar.... and even The Fixer is also mediocre (musically, lyrics suck). But, who knows how involved he was in each. To me, I feel like I know exactly what he contributed. I can hear it.
You can tell immediately when it's a Matt Cameron song (or if he was involved in writing) because it's schizophrenic rhythmically on guitar. In my opinion Evacuation describes his writing style. It's all over the place. I kinda wish he never joined PJ. I think they'd be a better band.
This made me sick to my stomach. Go away.

So, what I'm also hoping with this album, is that it will change the dynamic of the live show. If it is a little bit heavier/moodier than backspacer then perhaps songs from Binaural and Riot Act will find easier placement in the setlist.
I can see how the mood of Backspacer dictated how those shows/tours were. Fitting in with the whole light hearted celebratory vibe the band was going for....

I feel like that's been an accurate representation of the three songs we have so far. It's possible of course that the rest of the record goes in a very different direction, but we'll see.Jaeti wrote:I dunno. The thing is, you explicitly stated what tone you were using. That's great. But I didn't. So you had no idea that 'Go away' was not meant to mean 'Hithee out of my presence, heathen.' Because the thing is, we're both sitting at computers. I really was just telling you that I don't need my "jukebox expectations" criticised, because I really don't have any. At all. I didn't appreciate you implying that I was one of these entitled fans who expect PJ to bow to every wish. I don't. But every single fan, if they are a fan at all, have wants and wishes for the next album. You've really got to take my speculation with a pinch of salt, man. That's what it is. You also have to stop calling me names. Because I haven't called you anything.Tuolumne wrote:No, now I'll definitely stick around, simply because you're an irrational asshole. Yes, if just the main set can concentrate on newer material mixed with Binaural and RA songs to fit the vibe, they can suck each other off all they want in the encores (Betterman, Fixer, Baba, RITFW, Alive)Jaeti wrote:Yes. The band isn't worse since Matt joined, the band's worse since Dave A and Jack left. And if anyone quotes me and puts a strike-through over Dave A, I'll be really pissed off.

What I find funny is all of these experts on judging songwriting who probably blow at writing music. How exactly do you measure a good song?
To me, his music is typically off-beat, schizophrenic, shit. He's 100% a drummer trying to write music on a guitar. And, if you didn't know, that's very... unpleasant to normal human ears.
Once again, one exception - Crop Duster. For some reason, that one works.
