Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
I enjoyed it. But I'm not an entitled/jaded fan.
It was a well made and somewhat dark movie with many great moments. There were fuck all low points and it tied things together nicely while answering a few questions raised by the previous films.

I thought it was awesome. One of the best.
Ren is an absolute beast.
Palpatine is awesome
Rey brilliant
About 3/4 of the way thru I thought this could be the best Star Wars ever.
Can not wait to see it again

Seems like there's a problem w/ the first 45 min setting up the plot and then too much "fan service" and corrections made from The Last Jedi. I liked TLJ!
No problem at all the first 45 minutes are brilliant imho

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
Found this nestled into a review of TROS - I guess if you go in with this mindset, you'll enjoy it
Star Wars is rubbish.
From the moment you realised that Darth Vader – a man with "The Force" coursing through his veins like milk through a cow's teat, apparently – still couldn't recognise that the woman standing in front of him was his own daughter, then you knew, deep down, that Star Wars was rubbish.
And when does Vader meet Leia for the first time? About thirty minutes in to the very first film. That's when.
And that, really, is the whole point. That is why we love this series. Not because they are "good" films. But because they are joyously, exuberantly, rubbish.
The production design, the art direction and the special effects have always been cutting-edge. But the writing, the storytelling and most of the dialogue are – and always have been – awful. You become a true fan of Star Wars on the day you admit that to yourself and still understand why you love Star Wars anyway.

Yes. The really only real problem with star wars now is that we are adults.Rangi Guy wrote:Found this nestled into a review of TROS - I guess if you go in with this mindset, you'll enjoy it

I just hope it's enjoyable. I never take reviews to heart, but there calling the worst of the 9.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
I fully expect that it will be a mediocre fan service product with no inherent inspiration, a poorly structured plot, bad dialog, good acting, great music, and the special effects equivalent of a full Halloween bucket. The nostalgia, “event,” and thrill ride of it will lead to most people here really liking it, some even loving it, and then over the next two years that will normalize into a bit of a shrug.

Every Star Wars is a top three Star Wars ever made for at least a few weeks, no matter its actual worth. Such is the prophecy.
