Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
I don’t know what movie you saw but in no way is this a fuck your to rian Johnson. I’m not even talking about the quality of the movie (I loved it) but holy hell what did you miss in both this one and last Jedi to think that l? There were plenty of continuing threads and nods. Both films are stronger because of each other.
Burt - you’ve hated these movies with a passion since day one. Why did you even go and make yourself so miserable? So you could post in the thread and have something to bitch about to us?
Carry on.
I’ll talk about the movie later. Or not!

Posting in this thread was a big reason. Probably the biggest.Strat wrote:

Look, you said I had to watch this movie before I commented on it, so I did. That's my sacrifice. I did this for you.Strat wrote:I’m glad you find worthwhile things in your life. Proud of you.BurtReynolds wrote:Posting in this thread was a big reason. Probably the biggest.Strat wrote:

Seeing this again tonight. I’ll focus more on details this time. I know there are scenes I thought were great, and others I didn’t like that much. But there is nothing anywhere near as bad as Canto Bight. Overall I think it’s probably the best of the three sequels. It’s just pure Star Wars.

Clearly you stopped watching after the crawl you hated because uh that stuff was explained in the movieVinylGuy wrote:Jesus what a mess! Yes that’s real good. Another thread connected and continued from last Jedi. They’re everywhere throughout the movie.

So many.
All these ‘shits all over tlj’ takes..... I kinda doubt they’ve seen either movie. Or maybe weren’t paying attention. It’s all right fucking there!

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
I'm not the biggest fan of The Last Jedi, but I picked up on several threads that came directly from TLJ.
I think there are fans of TLJ that read facts out of the movie that were never there.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
Do you guys seriously believe that any of this was planned? That all these absurd plot contrivances were foreshadowed in TLJ? You can't be serious. This was a desperate patch job.
There was no plan and this movie was stitched together in editing and focus groups hated it but this is the best cut they had. The rumors were true. All of it.

What was foreshadowed, and what wasn't is an interesting question. However, there is absolutely no doubt that there are several elements from TLJ in TROS. You don't have to be a fan to see it, only to have seen the two movies.

Re: Star Wars: Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker
Well sure. You couldn't just ignore it. You had to come up with some throwaway lines to try to connect the two movies and make it make sense (like that "Holdo maneuver" crap. i still have no idea how someone thought that would explain it away). A good writer needs to do a lot more than that though. They didn't explain shit in a remotely interesting way, and it certainly wasn't planned from the start.Anders wrote:What was foreshadowed, and what wasn't is an interesting question. And I don't think any of this was consciously foreshadowed in TLJ. The holes were patched up after the fact by the writers of this one.
