I have the Fringe BR boxset that WB accidentally put on sale for $14 so this is something I could do. Also want to watch it with my son since he's getting into some sci-fi lately.

I haven't heard anything about the BBC adaptation other than the announce trailer. so it's not good?

it really is. Tony Shalhoub as Abe is the highlight of the show for me.

Or at least the first two seasons.

Watched the live recreations of Good Times & All in the Family episodes from the other night. Good Times was nothing special to be honest (John Amos had a role) but the All in the Family pretty good with Woody Harrelson in particular being very good as Archie.

The Pee Wee’s Playhouse Christmas Special is amazing. It’s a late-80s time capsule. My six-year-old has no idea who Cher, Grace Jones, or Joan Rivers are but seems to be enjoying it immensely.

:heartbeat:

I love that special so much. I haven't watched it in forever, though. Might need to change that this year.

So The Witcher is corny as hell but Henry Cavill is hilarious. He definitely knows what kind of show he's in.

Too bad he's only in 30% of the show. At least that's what it feels like. Everyone else in this is terrible. Its so bad when he's not in it.

It's like they decided after the first terrible episode to go full Xena Warrior Princess or Hercules. I want to like it but too much of it still sucks.

I don't know who this is for. It's like a CW show for girls. I can't imagine fans of the game will like it.

I think I like this show? I mean, it's bad. Like really bad. But I can't look away. And the last few episodes shift tone again to something else. What a weird fuckin' show.

That last episode was just...wtf...how...why...
Spoiler: show
Why is the show even called Witcher?! He's literally just wandering around in the woods while the huge epic climax is happening. It's hilarious. He's completely inconsequential to his own show! Someone OK'ed this!

Another bizarre decision...
Spoiler: show
The show bounces back and forth between multiple time periods, but it doesn't make it clear which time period you're watching at any given time. No date or flashback effect or anything. You just have to figure it out, and for no reason that I can understand. At first it's fairly easy to follow, but it gets harder to follow as it goes.

Wrapped up the season finale of His Dark Materials; it feels like the last episode was what the show should have felt like the whole season, maybe because it's actually willing to take a breath and let some of the dramatic moments hit. The ending was one of the first setpieces this season from the original novel that it felt like they captured exactly right.
