Yes, drummers learn music in a different way - via beats. They aren't note or melody inclined.

Wow, this is news to me. Because on the very first day of my 5-year-old's drum lessons, he learned whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, and eighth notes. And his teacher, who drummed for Buddy Guy for 20 years, knows a thing or two about drumming.

if his teacher was any good wouldn't he STILL be drumming for Buddy Guy?
