There’s so much connectivity to what came before in this film we haven’t even started to unlock it all

I thought Lucas had a multi year outline for Star Wars when he wrote the first movie. Although, there were certainly things changed along the way.

He very much did not.

GL changed his tune so many times throughout the decades who knows what his original intent was.

Those that read books that authors spent many hours researching to determine that he did not have multiple movies planned out at the onset. And the authors of those books.

I think the scene could have been better. I know there’s been some talk of him not getting a medal on-screen in the OT, but the way the scene was presented in TROS, just felt incomplete. Besides, like Dime said, in canon (comic) he already received a medal in the OT.

It isn't about him getting the medal literally to me. That's not the emotional resonance.

Apparently it was supposed to be that he was also force-sensitive. *shrug*

It did pay off. He sensed where the lead ship was.

where did he say he was force sensitive? As far as I know that came from some interview or talk.

that's now how that works.

For him being force sensitive it is. What he was going to tell Rey I don’t know. My guess is that he loves her. I thought that was what he wouldn’t say. It’s not uncommon for something like that to remain a secret between friends.

I certainly don't think he was going to tell her he was force sensitive. I said "interesting" earlier because I hadn't considered that and it's an interesting take. I'm with you on this though.

As far as Finn's Force sensitivity, it's all over the movie. He doesn't explicitly say, "Burt, please pay attention to this part because this is the part where I explicitly say I. AM. FORCE. SENSITIVE!" But there's a couple times where he does say, "I don't know... I can just feel it" and the like. I don't remember the exact lines. But what he's saying is obvious.

It's all over the movie.

They did seem to have a connection in TLJ, maybe even a brief romance. But clearly not in TROS.

I always thought Rose was way more into him than he was into her, even in TLJ. I think it makes total sense that they aren't together in TROS. I also really love the juxtaposition between them, the way she is able to not only show him but to tell him that she loves him. However, Finn is unable to do the same (for Rey). I think that's really cool parallelling and tells us a lot about each of their respective characters.

It really is too bad the 3 film story hadn’t been written before any of it was filmed.

This is the biggest flaw for all three movies. The trilogy all three trilogies suffer because of it.

I thought FOR SURE Ben would be there. I was kinda surprised that he wasn't. Anakin probably could have been, too and I'd have been fine with it. But since Rey herself has no connection to him, I'm okay with him being absent. Ben though...?

Maybe we'll get a Special Edition one day.

Yes, with everything that happened it would have been logical, but I think they didn't want it to be controversial, with a former villain there at the end.
