Brendan O'Brien "thinks there's no Matt songs on LB". Infallible is a Jeff song, Sirens is from Mike & Let The Records Play is a
Stone song.

That's a separate argument.

We were discussing his songwriting. I believe it was you who claimed he was the best in the band. I said he's the worst. PJ fans as whole would most likely agree with me.

To be devil's advocate (and to probably wade in where I know I shouldn't be), most PJ fans don't really give a shit about this level of analysis of who wrote what.

That's a separate argument.

We were discussing his songwriting. I believe it was you who claimed he was the best in the band. I said he's the worst. PJ fans as whole would most likely agree with me.
But clearly the 'majority' opinion isn't always right, by your own admission, so it's not evidence for anything. It's a separate argument that doesn't suit you because you can't squirm out of the contradiction.

Of course majority opinion isn't always right. But, in terms of tastes, the are often right.... particularly if they are "exposed" to all alternatives. In this case, that's why I used PJ fans as the total population.

What I'm providing evidence of is:

Matt's songs are not well liked by the over-all PJ fan base. I'm quite sure if you polled PJ fans, even one's that could name every song and every record, he would appear down the bottom of the list in terms of his "songwriting ability". That's what I'm saying. Meanwhile, you're saying he's better than the guys who wrote: Alive, Evenflow, Jeremy, Daughter, Rearviewmirror, Nothingman, Present Tense, In My Tree, Given to Fly and so on.

I find that stupid.

Wow, this is news to me. Because on the very first day of my 5-year-old's drum lessons, he learned whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, and eighth notes. And his teacher, who drummed for Buddy Guy for 20 years, knows a thing or two about drumming.
if his teacher was any good wouldn't he STILL be drumming for Buddy Guy?
He was a session drummer and got named director of the music school. He's making WAY more money now.
