My son still really only watches Sesame Street and sports. We do not own any tablets. How long can I continue to have such control over his viewing habits?

How old again?

My kids get completely hooked in something for a week or two then completely forget it existed. They watch more tv than I would like, but in 2 years they have used their tablets probably less than 10 times.

Only 2.

Just don’t give him too many choices. My biggest parenting mistake so far has been letting the kids see the “suggested” Youtube menu.

That's what I'm thinking. The whole ala carte/streaming world seems like a pandora's box for children.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

There are a bunch of YouTube channels for kids workouts. Yoga, dance cardio, etc.

My boys really like them and it’s a great activity for indoors when the weather sucks.

One in particular they really like is a guy who does videos with his son and each one has a theme (Avengers, Harry Potter, etc.) and he keeps score for you like a video bame throughout the workout.

It’s called “Sweat Shop Kids” and I just feel like there is a missed opportunity here for him to have chosen a better name.

Gonger is the best Sesame Street character

He has a cartoonish way of saying "cheese" that should annoy me, but somehow it's one of my favorite character choices for him.

The best part about Gonger is his heart, though. Every time they finish up a recipe on the truck, he's always got a little lagniappe tucked away for Cookie Monster.

Whenever my wife and I are cooking, we yell "It's ready!" in the Gonger voice when it's done.

I'd be curious to learn more about how the Monster Foodie Truck operates. Inefficient doesn't even begin to describe traveling upstate and beyond for one ingredient every order. Of course that wouldn't be an issue if Cookie Monster wasn't perpetually stealing from the business, but that's a whole new can of worms.
