The last album that the fanbase was overall "meh" on was Riot Act, and I fucking love that album. Based on the three LB songs I've heard, I very much doubt this shares much in common musically with Riot Act. Maybe it's just a boring album. Even Brendan O'Brien seemed fairly lukewarm about it in that "it sounds like Pearl Jam" interview.
you may be right :?

My level of excitement just went Image

what's your point?
That's a little surprising to me; these kinds of listening parties seem tailor-made for you to come out of it being really positive about the experience (and, by extension, the record).
It doesn't sound as if they even hired a quiet room for it. Which is weird.
Quiet listening parties are very rare. Intense initial bursts of excitement are not.
we've had three reviews and the longest one seemed pretty excited

You sound like you really want this to suck. We all took a while to like Binaural and Riot Act. I took years to like Binaural. Brendan O'Brien's taste in everything sucks, and he's lukewarm about this album. Do you wish he was thrilled with it? I certainly don't.

If Brendan O'Brien doesn't like it, it must totally suck.

Of course i'd prefer someone came out and said 'oh my god this is the best thing ever'. On the other hand, I've never said that about any pj album after one listen, let alone a listen under sub par circumstances when I'm also so worried about remembering what I heard that I can't just listen
No, no, it's gonna be good, stip. It's, uh...it's gonna be really...fun! Yeah, fun! So...I mean, nothing to...uh, worry. About. Well, not good as in 'GOOD,' you know, but....it's gonna be...it's....uh....

Fine, most of us did. And most of us thought S/T was a breath of fresh air afterwards (which then sucked) and then Backspacer was a breath of fresh air after that (which then sucked).

I'm not about to say it's gonna be the perfect anything, but I'm certainly not disappointed that Pit members are feeling neither here nor there about it.

Most of you guys seems determinate to hate this album if it dont sound like No Code. Its weird, really...you seem to need to hate it when its a month away and in most cases, PJ albums has pretty negative reviews from their fans at first.
Who cares about this "reviews" from some guy from Berlin or whatever?

Seriously nothing has been said here that has gotten me anything but more excited for this album. There are songs that people LOVE. I don't remember a lot of that with Backspacer or S/T right from the beginning.

Ehh... It took me several listens to get into Binaural given how different it was from Yield, but RA never clicked with me. I liked Avocado and Backspacer better. It's one of the reasons I can't trusts any of these listening party reviews.

It's probably needed at this point. I'm scared that it's happening.
