Jesus, I checked this thread out like a day ago, and there are like 50 new pages since. Can someone sum that last 20 or so pages up for me? Does this album still suck?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but it strikes me that pretty much nobody who has heard the album has given it rave reviews. There's a lot of "it was nice" and "I loved some of the songs", but nobody seems to be super hyped up and excited about it.

That's a little surprising to me; these kinds of listening parties seem tailor-made for you to come out of it being really positive about the experience (and, by extension, the record).

It doesn't sound as if they even hired a quiet room for it. Which is weird.

Quiet listening parties are very rare. Intense initial bursts of excitement are not.

we've had three reviews and the longest one seemed pretty excited. I forget about the other two.

Of course i'd prefer someone came out and said 'oh my god this is the best thing ever'. On the other hand, I've never said that about any pj album after one listen, let alone a listen under sub par circumstances when I'm also so worried about remembering what I heard that I can't just listen

We liked the idea of it for several pages back there but then Jorge came and told us it was going to suck and we all agreed we were getting ahead of ourselves and he was right.

I read somewhere that Sirens is the song Mike is most proud of. The guy wrote GTF. I'm not worried about Sirens.

Yeah, but he also was pretty proud of Inside Job.

And Turning Mist.

Weakest songwriter in the band. There I said it. He has some absolute gems that cemented me as a PJ fan, but he has some really shit songs too.

He wrote Faithfull which is like a top 3 Pearl Jam song for me.

Me too =). That's one of my absolute favorites. I thought the man could do no wrong basically through Yield.
