we went here yesterday for the first time...its an old school L.A. institution...the sandwich was only ok...Phillippe's a few blocks away is much better but their bar was the best

My friend is leaving the restaurant biz after a long, long stretch to fully commit to her art. I think that's awesome and I fully support it. Tonight is her last night Virginia's; the place she's been for a few years. My wife and I are going in tonight to eat, drink and celebrate our friend.

Pretty excited about it.

We did this brunch on New Year's Day. My wife and I made a game of taking turns going through the line coursing out plates for each other. We stayed for nearly two hours and the baby barely woke up. Highlight for me was the "dessert" I made of NOLA bread pudding french toast topped with Amish fried chicken.

Awesome meal. Great way to start off the year. Perfect send-off for my impending Whole30 plan.
