I tried the Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich today. It was good. Great, even. Still, I have a nagging suspicion that it’s like the second pressing of a hit record and I’ll never know what the original was like.

Hopefully they're not out of sweet tea when you go.

I don’t drink sweet tea from restaurants. They all make it way too sweet.

Tried the sandwich. A lot bigger than Chick-fil-A. All in all tastier, but it seemed greasier somehow.

Damn. We’ve not had a McAllister’s for probably 20 years. Damn they used to make a good sandwich. More than likely, I didn’t get the sweet tea there. I never do anymore. I just get unsweetened and sweet n low.

Those tomatoes look over ripe and soggy. The lettuce/greens look wet and wilted

That's one sorry-ass-looking salad for an advertisement

We visited my family in Myrtle Beach yesterday, and my mom had made her potato soup. She gave us a giant container to take home. It's probably my favorite thing that she makes. I am eating a bowl of it right now. So good.

dairy base?
chunks or puree? bacon or some other meat element?

this is all way too vague.
yes, dairy based. chunks, but very cooked and soft. bacon, but a small amount as to not overtake the deliciousness of the seasoning. She's made it without bacon and it is just as good. Small amounts of celery as well, but cooked so it isn't crunchy. Also, some hard boiled egg in there as well.

yes, i will be cheating and going to a gastro-pub later and eating whatever the F for the balance of the evening

but i ran 2.5 miles this morning so i dont feel so guilty

my new years slim down approach will likely be more of a trendline than an absolute rule-set. good luck to all who are adopting the pure ascetic approach. i will toast to you later with fried calamari and a very carby microbrew
