Strong disagree. Though looking through this list, it's not that serious with the garlic debate. Imagine serving any of these recipes with a straight face.

Garlic isn’t a traditional ingredient to guacamole.

I also cringe when people add tomatoes or sour cream.

This is exactly my point. I add a pinch of those few other things.

Ugh so many people make gross guacamole. Usually I can stand one bite and one bite only. Sometimes I can tell just by looking it’s going to be disgusting and don’t even bother. And don’t even get me started on that store-bought paste that says guacamole on the packaging.

If you’re using only a pinch then I trust you. And yes, my cousin loads hers up with sour cream. No cilantro, no red onions, no lime. Just avocados, sour cream and salt. I watch the sacrilege and can’t speak.

It's...guac.

Outside tradition is where you'll find the good stuff. I do agree that if garlic or any other ingredient overpowers avocado, you've gone too far.

She makes up for things every December with her baklava. I’ll have her over soon and make guacamole in front of her and hopefully she’ll ask. Can’t really tell her because she’s very proud of her otherwise fantastic cooking.

I suppose. Mac and cheese egg rolls are a weakness for me and that’s about as far away from traditional as you can get.

Is there a "traditional" recipe for guac? I'm sure wherever it originated, the formula changed regionally, just like any other food.

Avocado, salt, lime juice. Hint of garlic powder/salt and chili flakes if you please.

If the onions are finely chopped the flavor is more even and prevalent.
