That list is early and weak sauce. There was even more after that. More outtakes. Some concerts. Uncut session and demo tapes.

Liking this so far gentlemen, thanks again. I forgot all about Curmudgeon, it's the one standing out the most for me right now.

This is one of my personal favorites. I was thrilled with how this one came out, having had the "Krist angle" video and the boot CD on KTS since I was a teenager.

Wow that’s killer, thanks for sharing. Is this about 6 months before Grohl joined?Wendy Carlos's Twin wrote:This is one of my personal favorites. I was thrilled with how this one came out, having had the "Krist angle" video and the boot CD on KTS since I was a teenager.

Awesome! '89-'90 is my favorite live Nirvana era, and this is one of my favorite shows (along with Lincoln '90, Rotterdam '89, and Chicago '89).Wendy Carlos's Twin wrote:This is one of my personal favorites. Yup. Just a little over 6 months, and one of Chad's last shows.Matters wrote:Wow that’s killer, thanks for sharing. Re: I Feel Stupid And Contagious / A Nirvana Thread
Nice little collection, thanks a lot for everyone's efforts with this one! Listening to it now brings back lots of memories of hearing some of these tracks for the first time by chance back in the 90's (usually found on dubbed cassettes sold at the market...at least in Ireland anyway) and not knowing anything about them, as the internet wasn't even around yet.joostone wrote:The idea behind this compilation is to make it feel essential. To create an essential album next to the three released records.
So I did not include alternate takes like 'pay to play' or 'new wave polly'. I also did not include covers (Molly's Lips etc), live recordings (Talk to me,..) or solo demos (Do Re Mi,...).
If you want those you can find them at either 'Incesticide' or 'With the Light out'.
ridleybradout, awesome artwork - do you mind me asking what program you use? I've created similar cd comps for a band I'm into and would love to put some professional looking artwork with them.

Re: I Feel Stupid And Contagious / A Nirvana Thread
This newly-surfaced 1990 interview/discussion is just great:
It seems like such a trite thing to say but watching this makes me really wish Kurt found a way to navigate the following few years more successfully.
He seems so relaxed, engaged and unburdened by it all here, in contrast to his interviews even 18 months later, post-Nevermind.

Not really. There was no dichotomy there at all.tragabigzanda wrote:I think he was really conflicted by his desire for fame and fortune, and his hatred of it.
What most folks don't seem to realize is that he wanted fame but not fortune.
He wanted to be moderately well-known and revered like Sonic Youth, Dinosaur Jr, The Pixies etc...
He didn't want to be the next Beatles or Bob Dylan.
People who dislike Nirvana love to talk about him being a hypocrite/cry-baby, etc...because they generally don't understand that kind of thing.

Even in his wildest fantasies, Kurt's concept of success for the band was operating at the same level as Sonic Youth, etc., not "displacing Michael Jackson from the top of the Billboard chart" big.

I never bought what Cobain said about success. I looooved what Buzz Osborne said about him a few years back. Thats pretty much how i see Cobain.

lol, everything kurt cobain said about not being "famous" was bullshit. it was just a front b/c he wanted to appear "indie". if he didnt want to be famous nirvana would have stopped doing mtv shows, interviews, music videos, etc. we are also totally overlooking the fact this guy had a huge drug problem. but this idea that kurt cobain didnt want to be famous is a joke. of course he did, look at how he conducted his career.
edit: i also love nirvana. like more than some family members. but i never fell for that nonsense.

Way to totally miss the point. I never said he didn't want to be famous.warehouse wrote:lol, everything kurt cobain said about not being "famous" was bullshit. it was just a front b/c he wanted to appear "indie". if he didnt want to be famous nirvana would have stopped doing mtv shows, interviews, music videos, etc. we are also totally overlooking the fact this guy had a huge drug problem. but this idea that kurt cobain didnt want to be famous is a joke. of course he did, look at how he conducted his career.
