She did though. Leia feel that saber going through her son and that’s it. It kills her

I thought it was obvious she died from attempting to force project herself to Ben during that battle.

Leia was the Han image imo, sacrificed her last strength to reach out to Ben/Kylo. Similar to what Luke did in TLJ. It even worked.

She died a scene or two before han appears though.

My pal put it perfectly.

It’s the force. She’s not really dead. She even appears at the end.

I don’t believe she can be killed by a saber going through her son. That’s not how that scene read to me at all.

She felt Han being killed and was in pain. She felt luke die. She obviously has a far bigger bond with her son and felt his agony as he gets skewered. Possibly worse cos she knows it’s Rey

And if that were true, about her conjuring Han it breaks and robs the moment with Ben and Han. It’s bens own guilt and torment and wanting out of that is what brings Hans memory to him. That’s powerful. Who hasn’t ran over a bad argument in their head wishing they could take it back?
This is worse for him by a million cos he killed his dad

Rather, I think she distracted Ben, so that Rey could get the upper hand. She knew something needed to happen to turn him. Him killing Rey, would destroy everything.

All respect that isn’t what it was at all.

My other pal just talked me down. Dammit

‘Oh I don't think that's what happened, I just like it better than Rey killing Leia.

She knew reaching out would cost her her own life, and ultimately it would be up to Ben to save them all, which he does. Once he sacrifices for Rey, both Ben and Leia's bodies disappear together. In my headcanon, Leia detaches from her own body, ties her fate to Kylo/Ben's. When he chooses the light, they both ghost. If Rey hadn't healed Ben, then I'd agree; she would have killed them both. But there's no reason (in my mind) that Rey is responsible for Leia's death when only the alias of Ben Solo "died" in that moment.’

I agree that Leia reached out to Ben with all her strength. Gave everything so that Rey would succeed, and Ben/Kylo would turn to the light.

It’s such a massive one two punch though. Leia dying. You’re crying in your seat.

Then fuckin Han

So beautifully done too. You can accuse this film of many things. That’s flawless though.

They wrote that and landed it beautifully.
