I have done a bunch of deep dives on Zodiac before (even bought Graysmith's book last year, though haven't had the chance to read it), so I didn't think I'd learn much, but I figured I'd give it a shot. I've definitely picked up bits and pieces about the case that I was unfamiliar with before, but the best part are the interviews with the people involved (both contemporaneous and the more recent stuff). To actually hear from victims has been arresting, and other witnesses, investigators, and reporters have given lots of cool perspectives. I will probably loop back to Season 1 of the podcast when this one is done.durdencommatyler wrote:Monster: The Zodiac Killer is way better than expected.
This one though is outstanding so far. Glad you're also digging it.

it would appear he's not going to be on-mic for these but I doubt that'll last.

I don't even know where to begin. Some of my favorite episodes are when PJ and Alex are just riffing. Mostly during Yes Yes No segments.tragabigzanda wrote:Finally listened to Reply All, started with the two episodes about the call/scam center in Delhi. Awesome stuff. Any other episodes that are this good?
Listen to Zardulu. That one's a trip. Also Boy in Photo. Both of those really tap into how mysterious and sometimes unsettling it can be interacting with strangers on the internet.
Lost in a Cab is also really good. This one also digs into the seedy underworld of scammers. There are just so many interesting stories and those two hosts have such good chemistry. Check out their previous pod too, called TL:DR. Same general concept, but shorter stories presented with less investigative and production resources that Gimlet is able to give them.

Re: What podcasts are you listening to?
My wife got scammed trying to register her car shortly after I listened to the cab one. She didn't listen to it with me and I didn't know she was registering her vehicle at the time. I could have warned her.

The Armchair Expert ep where Dax talks to Jonathan Safran Foer is outstanding.

Really? His super phlegmy voice made me picture him exactly as he looked... except maybe with a mustachebune wrote: I can tell you that I've never pictured him as an old man.

Exactly. Trying to think of the actor his voice reminded me of....theplatypus wrote:Really? His super phlegmy voice made me picture him exactly as he looked... except maybe with a mustachebune wrote: I can tell you that I've never pictured him as an old man.
edit: Brian Doyle-Murray. Not that his voice is like his but I pictured his age and moustache.

Re: What podcasts are you listening to?
The first episode of the DC Sniper pod was good. I am trying to not read the Wikipedia page, but it's very tempting.

How is Maron still having recording problems for on-the-road eps? Get your shit together, man.
(Loved the ep anyway. I hope he gets to do a solo Pitt one in the garage someday.)

I love the ep, but thought the same...I just wanted to hear Pitt and Leo. GTO marc.LoathedVermin72 wrote:How is Maron still having recording problems for on-the-road eps? Get your shit together, man.
