JJ only tries his best when securing merchandising deals for Bad Robot. This movie is certainly not the product of best effort.

Oh, the whole joy of this movie is that they made no effort at all. It’s magnificent.

LV, you have to take a stand. Was it so fucking awful it was good? or did you actually think it was good?

It’s good, I genuinely like it. Being dumb and lazy doesn’t mean it’s bad. I don’t believe in the concept of “so bad it’s good.”

The rise of skywalker fits the events and story of TPM better than its given title.
The phantom menace fits the events and story of TROS better than its given title

Anakin Skywalker is discovered and becomes a Jedi padawan - rise of skywalker
Emperor Palpatine has mysteriously returned and threatened the galaxy - phantom menace
Calibrate your enthusiasm

I think there are a ton of flaws in the movie. But I feel like the culture has gotten too comfortable calling shit "lazy." It kinda drives me nuts.

Still not feeling it. But I'll take that over lazy any day of the week.

I almost never call movies lazy. This movie is aggressively lazy. That’s its greatest asset.

This movie wasn't good. Pretty disappointed in the whole trilogy tbh. Was hoping this movie would bring it all together for me.

Some day we'll meet face to face and have a real talk about this and all Star Wars storytelling. I genuinely look forward to that day, friend.

Look man, I adore LV. And I've always respected the fuck out of his takes. He's actually literally changed the way I think about and engage with art. But there is no argument to be made that will change my mind about that movie.
