Mrs Fletcher (HBO). I love Kathryn Hahn and so far this is pretty good.

First two eps were solid. Haven't watched the rest yet.

Yeah I watched the first two as well. Surprised at where it seemed to be headed, with her son (a real shit) and the other kid. Nice complex emotions in this, though.

E4 is kind of tough. Everyone is really lost and afraid to be vulnerable.

I'm so excited to dive back in to this. Now that I'm caught up on so many other things it should be easy. Hopefully this week I can finish up.

There's no real clear character arc for anyone, especially since the ending is very open. And the title and promotion of the show didn't really do it justice. It's not really about "a divorcee who starts watching porn," as the promo materials sort of indicated. But the way porn can act as an outlet, or an influencer, on how people engage with sexuality, is definitely a big part of the story.

And Owen Teague is a star. He was fine enough with his small roll in It, but here he's able to stretch out much more. He's the young River Phoenix, Ethan Hawke, and Kevin Bacon rolled into one.

And Kathryn Hahn continues to amaze.

Also maybe the best TV/movie thing I've seen based on a Tom Perrotta story? Way better then Little Children, and The Leftovers looks idiotic and I'm content to go to my grave believing that without ever watching it (fuck Lindelof). Maybe on par with Election?

There's talk of a second season but nothing firm yet.

I finished this last night as well. I hope they don't do a second season. All the stuff called it a Series Finale and I'm fine with that.

The Leftovers is amazing and this is nowhere near as brilliant as that show. But otherwise, I agree with what you said in your write up. I really loved this. But that shouldn't surprise anyone given the themes and the cast.

Yeah I definitely don't think it needs a second season...but I would certainly tune in. Hahn can convey so friggin' much with just a facial expression.

Yeah, the "ending" was oddly perfect.

I was consistently surprised, especially in the 3rd season, how good the material was. Even Pete's Christian jokes were often hilarious. I was glad it eventually dropped the "crashing" part of its premise and Pete settled down a bit (while at the same time almost always being on the road). I am also happy that (spoilers coming up, I guess--but is anyone ever going to watch this again?) Kat got to tell him off in the penultimate episode. I was worried she was going to be abandoned as a crazy, unstable ex-girlfriend, but the writers did her right.

Watching final season of “you’re the worst”. For some reason I love it. It’s like the only thing on TV that really tries to just be funny and not be ‘important’ or ‘timely’.

Modern Family had one of their farce episodes last night. The set up was ridiculous but the comedy of errors and Three's Company type misunderstandings & open/close door hijinks was fairly enjoyable. The cast does a great job playing off each other but they were mostly working as individuals this time. The episode was not attached to any specific and had a couple big name guests doing nothing of consequence (plus Steven Merchant doing some heavy lifting keeping the gags together) so I don't know why this aired now instead of sweeps.
Manny's still insufferable.
