Not a return to any previous form but hopefully a suitable evolution. While they want to be a bloody pop band I'm having to review my hopes. If the themes are consistent, the eclecticism could work.

Edit: it's a reaaaal possibilityyy..
u dont think they have an eclectic mix on their albums?
Not in a wacky, poppy or trippy way. I guess when I think of 'eclectic' I tend to think of totally weird juxtapositions. They've always got a wide variety of styles on the albums, but not real darkness clashing against cheesy pop.
gotcha, i agree w/ that
so having mankind along side lukin, red mosquito, i'm open, and sometimes isn't "juxtaposition"?
Well, anything alongside anything is a juxtaposition. I did mention 'totally weird' ones, and no, I don't think those tracks sound totally weird together. They're all basically different style of rock song, with similar production values. Britney Spears next to Bob Dylan next to Kraftwerk next to Metallica next to a baby farting then giggling would be weird juxtaposition.

As will FD, LB, MYM and in Australia/NZ ThrowYAAM.

There's 5 of your 28 right there.

mankind is obviously more radio friendly, but its not like its a pop song in the middle of a bunch of sludge metal songs.

The Getaway sounds like it's a good rock song. Mike solo at the end?

Nobody can fucking describe My Father's Son. WTF is this song?

Nobody can describe Swallowed Whole either.

Do Pendulum and Yellow Moon have guitar solos? Curious about that.

And of course, Infallible is sounding like the crown jewel of the album. It sounded fucking great on a shitty quality soundcheck.

My interest in this track is fast diminishing, and the fear is setting in. However, it's track 3 right? That's interesting to me, because that's like laying your cards on the table really early.

The only of those I wouldn't want to see live is FD and SBM.

A band like the Pixies, even Frank Black's solo stuff, is more eclectic than PJ ever were.

well red mosquito and lukin are rock songs. im not sure what you would call sometimes, i think thats part of the reason i love it so much. its still a 4/4 song based on 2 similar riffs. im open is just lame filler.

I'd swap sirens for my fathers son though, in terms of whats really intriguing me. Have no clue what that could sound like.

Leaving heres kinda 50s right? Ive always liked that and soldier of love. LtRP could be ok.

Swallowed whole seems to have a kinda better days hippy dippy earth song thing going on lyrically, but the corresponding picture seemed kinda dark.

It seems most people will just deem sleeping by myself as unnecessary. I hope is just that rather than awful though.
Yeah I nearly left Sirens off the list but any track that has so much hype (from Mike and Bo'B) does have me interested.
Fuckin BoB though, I don't trust him. Nor mike for that matter, hed say anything was awesome . Plus people keep saying "beautiful" and when that happens you usually get cheeseballs.

father's son and infallable seem intriguing. i dont mind the idea of a 50's pop rock song, i just hope it doesnt remind me of backspacer.
Read a few posts up, he's told me it doesn't sound like Supersonic. Real rock 'n roll sound apparently. Phew.
like Bob Segar old time rock n roll?

I'm not afraid of the word "beautiful" but it's often misapplied in PJ circles.

I would call PJ diverse, not eclectic.
