I'm not marketing genius; when is the best time to drop a single? Later in the day, after work? Early? Has anyone checked Spotify to see if some dumb-dumb put a new song up there by accident?

Back in the old days, a single would be given to radio stations on a Friday and "embargoed" until the official release date (usually the next Monday or Tuesday). Then radio stations could build up the hype by playing snippets, the hook, talking about it ... or full blown start playing it after 5p to "stick it to the man" (record company lawyers would leave for the weekend and not send a cease and desist until Monday morning).
