I think my only big question is who was Darlene speaking with when she told "Elliot" about Vera returning? The thing that made Elliot and Mr. Robot both realize someone else was in there?

Right now this whole series is probably in my top four or five of all time, and the last season probably second only to season one of True Detective for my favorite single season of any show. This season was so damn good.

So the first appearance of The Mastermind was S1E1? If he had no illegal hacking background, how did he recruit the original crew of F Society? How did he escalate from IT to the alpha hacker in such a short time? The last episode expanded the character, but tarnished the abilities of the character by making him the “superhero” persona. I would have preferred if the revelation was made from real Christa to real Elliot / The Mastermind in the kidnapping episode or even in a post-Deus Group therapy session Overall, the last season was still excellent.

Spoiler: show
I dont think the real elliot is different from the mastermind look wise. I think its the same dude...Something along the lines of Dom the cop telling him You are not this guy kinda makes me think that...Also about Wellick...i was expecting to see his face at the end, im glad it didnt happened and Wellick is a different guy
Spoiler: show
I was fine with not seeing who he looked like, it wasn't essential to me, but it drove my wife nuts. Darlene was more important this season than I ever thought she would be.
I assume we are off spoiler tags now so... wasn’t the real Elliot us the viewer?

I've thought about that as a scenario. I need to think on that some more. But presumably a couple of characters (Darlene, and maybe the shrink?) spoke to real Elliot during an episode, right? So if they were talking to someone other than the camera, I would say no

I need some more time think on it as well, only finished it like an hour ago. I guess I interpreted it to mean we (the voyeurs, really everyone watching any show) experience fiction as a way to deal with our traumas. Like we were the real Elliot using the show itself to escape our lives and vicariously act out our fantasies of being exciting people who change the world through brilliance. The “hello Elliot” at the end was our wake up call as well

The emotional impact of the final few seconds is still with me. Powerful stuff

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I liked it! This season was so strong from top to bottom. I thought the inclusion of characters from past seasons was done organically and within the story. The visuals were still top notch. I think the two year gap between season 3 and 4 really prevented me from enjoying it as much as I probably should have though.

A re-watch would be really fun, but I'm not sure if I will ever get to it.
