O'Brien produced Can't Deny Me which came out in 2018 so they were recording new material with him as recently as then. I'm not sure if I buy that they scrapped a bunch of already-completed sessions and started afresh with a new producer (or no producer) in 2019.

If I'm Jeff or Stone and I am in a band that recorded absolute trash like CDM, I quit. I'm already rich and can write music on my own. Maybe one of them finally got some balls to say either we put some real effort into what we are doing or I'm out. Now, maybe it's not that simple. The ten club/touring apparatus relies on the band to put food on the table, so that's got to be tough too.

You know, I listened to Can't Deny Me again today. First time in a long time. And I really enjoyed it. Of course, I always liked the song more than most. But I put it on a playlist after Hitchhiker and Ole and before Let The Records Play and Johnny Guitar and it sounds great. Really fits and makes sense in that context.

Can’t Deny Me was the first Pearl Jam song that I had no interest in possessing in any format. Not digital, CD, vinyl, nothing. I listened to it 2 or 3 times on YouTube and never wanted to hear it again.
