That’s probably him describing what it’s like to take his kids with him to the local coffee shop.Monkey_Driven wrote:Can we talk about this quote from Mike some more?
“Making this record was a long journey,” explains Mike McCready . “It was emotionally dark and confusing at times, but also an exciting and experimental road map to musical redemption. Collaborating with my bandmates on Gigaton ultimately gave me greater love, awareness and knowledge of the need for human connection in these times."

Sounds like they actually got into a room and wrote songs together start to finish?Monkey_Driven wrote:Can we talk about this quote from Mike some more?

We haven’t heard the single and it already has a dedicated acronym.

Let's hope Jeff took control of the band.tragabigzanda wrote:I kind of think Mike might be sort of a simple and happy guy. He's got his sobriety and his loving family and his jillion guitars, and I think he just sort of coasts through life as a mostly happy person these days. I also have a hunch that Jeff may have thrown down the gauntlet, to the effect of "Either I get more creative control on this one so I actually feel connected to it, or I'm out." Which if true would probably have been difficult for the band to process.

Either set of codes are still working, I'm told. Lech is getting a little cranky because he's getting the initial high influx. But don't let his snappy responses put you off, he's normally a great guy.

Remember when the time between Backfacer and Lightning Bolt felt like a long time?
That feels like a quick turn around these days.

I waited for that to happen for a long ass time! I hope it did with this record.

I'm certainly not going to even pretend to speculate on stuff like that. However I think Jeff is a talented dude and I tend to appreciate his aesthetic. To that end, the more involved he is, the better.

this has to be the shortest time span between official announcement and release, right?Strat wrote:Remember when the time between Backfacer and Lightning Bolt felt like a long time?

I'm hoping that synth means something like You Are and Mike's quote about it being a dark album makes me think of NAIS and Binaural. Both things would be acceptable.BurtReynolds wrote:While I love synths and listen to synths stuff all the time, Pearl Jam and synths go together like oil and water and sounds like a terrible idea. Didn't they already try that with backspacer?
